I propose a $500 million bond for the November 2022 election to address the deferred maintenance in Balboa Park. I will also ask voters to approve a parcel tax dedicated only for Balboa Park to establish a reliable funding source for maintenance and projects.
I propose the city establish a Climate Change Department and a Climate Change Commission to provide leadership and pro-active progress on the city’s plan to address this real global crisis.
I support a policy of “a little bit of love and little bit of tough love” to address the homeless crisis. I want the City to partner with the County and have trained social and case workers on the frontlines managing solutions for the homeless and only have law enforcement involved if and when necessary. I have sent a letter to the County of San Diego to encourage them to establish a Conservatorship program in the City of San Diego as a valuable tool to help manage the Homeless Crisis in a humane manner and with due process.
I support increasing the supply of diverse housing opportunities with smart density and streamlining the planning and development process. I also support the November 2020 housing bond proposed by the San Diego Housing Federation.
I support restoring pensions and death and disability benefits for all public safety personal including Fire Fighters and Lifeguards.
SECURING OUR CITY EMPLOYEES
I support ending the on-going costly litigation and restoring fair pensions and Social Security for all City Employees and allowing an optional 401k.
Please join me in voting YES! on March 3, 2020 to expand our economic engine Convention Center, to start tackling our Homeless Crisis and to begin fixing potholes and repaving our streets.
